I didn't read all the other recipes, so sorry if this is a repeat. My family doesn't love S&S meatballs, but this recipe is always a hit.
For 2 lbs. meat:
2 eggs
1/4 C matzah meal
pepper & garlic to taste
For sauce:
1 1/4 C brown sugar
1/2 C ketchup
16 oz. can tomato sauce
1 can jellied cranberry sauce
In pot on low flame combine sugar, ketchup, tom. sauce & cranberry sauce. Allow to simmer. In separate bowl mix meat, eggs and spices. Form balls and drop into sauce. Cover, leaving a small opening. Cook on low flame for 1 1/2 - 2 hours, stirring gently.
Eat and enjoy!

I make with grape jelly & ketchup -- its delicious. I use around double the amount of ketchup as grape jelly (plus water equal to the amount of ketchup) plus a dash of lemon juice and a dash of black pepper for the sauce. Make meatballs however you want (I use dark ground turkey with some matza meal or breadcrumbs and eggs and a little water) and cook them in the sauce.

This is so yummy! I make it for yom tov, too, and noone can figure out what's in it:
Sauce:
2 cups ginger ale (any kind)
1 1/2 cups ketchup
Put in a pot, stir, bring to a boil, drop in 25-30 raw meatballs. frozen ok too. Lower temp to min, simmer for 1 1/2 hours or more, stirring once in a while so the meatballs don't stick.
Easily doubled or halved.
Sometimes I throw in chopped onion and/or garlic and/or parsley, fresh or dried into the sauce.
Serve over rice or mashed potatoes.
Freezes well.
Enjoy!!

For every 2 lbs chopped meat, you need:
2 eggs
1/4 c. matzo meal
pepper and garlic to taste
1 1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. ketchup
16 oz can tomato sauce
1 can jellied cranberry sauce
In a pot, over low flame, combine sugar, ketchup, tom sauce and cranberry sauce. Allow to simmer. In a separate bowl, mix meat, eggs, matzo meal and spices. Form small balls and drop into sauce. Cover, leaving only a small opening and cook on low flame for 1 1/2-2 hrs. Stir gently so you don't burn it! |
am making your recipe right now
