My dh is begging me to get a really good perfume and I have no clue what to get that he will like. What are the best perfumes you have that your dhs really liked. I have gucci, white diamond, and vera wang and he is not crazy over any of them.

chanel Allure - but Eau de parfum not toilette, I've worn it for so long already and keep going back to it. Also Armani Mania-very warm, smells almost spicy.

perfume is all in the personality ... the two of you have to go together and sniff the variety and see what aroma the two of you like mutually ... then go for that one ...

I beg him to. He doesn't want to. too embarrassed - don't ask me y cuz I definitely don't understand it. He doesn't tell me that he's embarrassed - he uses the excuse that he wants to be surprised. I know him too well though.

Why don't you go to the department store and come home with paper samples?
Make sure to sample Weekend by Burberry while you are there

not familiar w any of those, but just FYI-
perfumes fall into a few different famiilies- musky, flowery, sporty/cologney, spicy etc. See if there is an underlying theme in the perfumes you have- it could be they are all the same family and your DH doesn't like that family. Then you know to try a different style.

As many ppl as you ask that's how many different answers you'll get. everyone has a different taste there are tons of good ones, and you know what, I could love one, and then after a few weeks, I can't understand how I got it and want another one, so even the same person could have different moods...
I love Christian Dior - J'adore, and Versace-Blue Crystal....
Good luck, it's fun!

Since you didn't get enough responses...my two favorite ones would be Ralph lauren Romance - really soft and Lacoste pretty in pink.

I don't know what musky means. I do know that he doesn't want a soft perfume because some of the ones I have are soft and he is not happy with those.

I like fruity so I wear DKNY Be Delicious. I also like Davidoff Cool Water. I agree that it's all just a matter of taste. What is the prettiest smell in the world to some, will make others hurl.
Go to a department store, smell around, see what you like.

The kind of question you can ask is, "do you want something that smells more like floral, fruity, or spicy?"
Though I agree guys can be quite clueless when it comes to describing scent.
Probably the best thing is to go to a department store or a perfume shop, try a few YOU like (no sense in wearing what DH likes but you don't), and see if DH likes that. Agree on something before you buy.
Agree that you may want something a bit stronger--cologne usually lasts 1hr at most, eau de perfume last longer.

I don't like strong scents, or anything overly sweet. So far, Davidoff Cool Water is the only thing I like. Elegant and clean, IMO.

This is the only sensible suggestion. Al taam vareach ein lehitvakeach, and just because amother 1's dh is crazy about Eau de Frumme or Je Suis Cachere doesn't mean yours will be. Even if Mr. Amother 1 and your dh are identical twins.
Go to the store, select 2 or 3 scents that you like, then bring them home for dh to choose. No more than 3 b/c noses get confused, and keep each blotter card in a separate pocket of your bag lest the scents contaminate each other.

Go to a department store and request some samples.
You say no sweet and no fruity.
Try floral, oriental or woody.
Here are a few to try:
Very Irresistable Givenchy.
Calvin Klein Euphoria
Dior Dior Addict
Thierry Mugler Angel
Tom Ford Black Orchid
Your best bet would be to drag him to a department store and sniff away.
