my son is 5 and has been trained for 2 years. (not at night, mind you, but that's a different story)
recently, he started pishing in his pants during the day. he wont' tell me, but when it's time to get into pj's, his pants are all wet.
I think he is just too busy (or lazy) to go to the bathroom.
I have tried so many incentives. I have a prize box - if he is dry by the end of the day, he gets to pick a prize. so far - he's gotten ONE prize!!!! (it has been 3 weeks since the start of this plan)
I've tried charts, and other incentive-type plans and NOTHING is working.
is this just a passing phase, should I let it go?
any advice?

Sorry I don't have any advice for you but I do feel your pain. I'm on vacation now for 4 weeks and my dd was fuly trained before pesach but ever since we got here she's had accidents every single day! How do I go about retraining her when I get home next week?

any advice? | What is going on with him emotionally? I am not an expert, but for a child of 5 to start losing control after 2 years of control is worrisome. My suggestion would be to speak with someone who can advise you, ASAP. The prize thing may work with a training child; yours is past this stage (as his lack of earning prizes shows you).

OP:
nothing going on emotionally - same as it has always been, which is totally fine.
he is a very on-the-ball, smart kid.
I've spoken to some other mothers who have told me they had similar experiences, jsut wondering...

You need to get your pediatrician to check him to eliminate maybe a bladder infection or some other physical cause. Then I'd suggest some basic research on the Net or some of these books written by psychologists. And of course, the wealth of experience from amothers!!
