Can someone please explain the practical difference in what you say? My husband said he holds by saying "ba omer" but my siddur only has "la" written so I sometimes say the "wrong" thing.

Both are correct. Better to read whatever it says in your book than get yourself confused and discombobulated trying to say it dh's way.

Some men need to learn that there isn't always only one correct way, which is their way, but that separate but equal is a practical reality.
