Depends on how much tuition you pay. IN the chassidish cheders the rebbes get paid very little and they rely on the tips. In the other yeshivas the rebbe get paid alot better (hence thats where your big tuition payments go to)

I pay very decent tuition. I know the rebbes rely on the tips and they are excellent so they get like $75-100 bucks twice a year.

I gave $40 to each rebbe - which is a decent amount in my world - $20 to the bus rebbe and $10 the bus driver. yep, tipping for ONE CHILD cost me $110. B"H for that... his Rebbes deserve a whole new salary from me, cuz Shimie is so not your typical 3 year old!...

Mama Bear, I'm sure its very apriciated.
I don't get tips, (as a teacher) I get gifts. usually 15-25$ gift cards chanukah, and at the end of the year.
one year a mother of a child with diabetes gave me a $75 gift card. I had put a lot of effort into her child, helping him test every day b/4 lunch, calling her if the numbers were too low or high emailing her b/4 any food was served for a program or part of class. I had no problem doing, this - it is part of my responsibilities as a teacher, but it was soooo nice to be apreciated.

we get a call from the class mother its $10 per teacher from each mother. then you give the bus teacher and driver what ever you want 10-15-20.

I am wondering if $25 for a pre1a rebbe will look cheap???
My husband says that the ones who get paid less (ie the assistants) should get more. That's not quite working out, though!

I always give for purim, not chanukah.
Last year I gave each rebbe 50, I don't know what we will be able to do this year.

We've been doing this for years,
Pre-school- $50 a rebbe Chanukah and Purim
Kittah Aleph and up- $20 every rosh chodesh, $50 Purim and Chanukah.
Bus and bs rebbe, I usually collect $5 from each neighbor using this bus, so at least I can save a little there.
Chinuch is expensive. But I'd rather buy a dress less and give the money (that we are very short on...) and hope to see my investment pay off!
