Where do you draw the line on which questions are just too trivial to ask a Rov? I am talking about Hashkofa (spiritual) questions - not Halacha. Would you ask a Rov guidance about selecting your kids schools? Their daycamps? Where to live? Where to go on vacation? About the cleanliness of the Mikva?
Do you go the path of "Better to ask and know for sure" or are you on the "I'll ask if we can't come up with an acceptable solution" track?
From reading different posts it seems like some people instantly call a Rov when they have a situation to deal with and others try to work things through alone.
Comments from the Rabbis wife (if they are on this site) would be interesting..

the answer probably depends on the type of couple you are -

is the husband a talmid chacham or not

and whether there are people, other than a rav, that you can consult with like parents, older siblings, a teacher

and how independent you are

and whether the rav is someone who can offer guidance in these areas or just answers halachic queries

for myself, I dont ask where to send my kids to school. but since I work at the mikvah, I ask lots of questions-not always halachic. like when will the roof be fixed, the bulbs replaced, etc.
ive asked him about family situations too.
recently, I felt that I had to do something in a way my children weren't happy with. I told them to call the rav and ask him. if he says ok, then we'll do it their way. when the rav told them that I was correct (or rather my way was preferable) then they were content w/ his answer and not upset w/ me.
