Those schools are not acting ok- make all scholarship applicants come on the same night and wait in the same room? What?!
I get schools have to look out for their bottom line to be able to pay staff but they are also supposed to be a community function and do collect tzeddakah.
We ask for a scholarship. I have no idea who is on the committee. The paperwork is embarrassing enough. It is an endoscopy. BH I don't have to defend my inability to pay in person.
We did have an issue when they just didn't respond to my application. But we called an administrator who told us to call him weekly until we heard back from him. What a mensch. He kindly heard my tears and spoke to the committee to get an answer.
