I'm looking for information on Rabbi Brus's mesivta.
Are the boys truly happy?
Yeshivish or balabatish crowd?
I hear he "molds" the boys.
What does that mean?
Is the mesivta well run?
How are the rebbeim in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade?

I don’t know about the molding thing.
It’s a very high level of learning, nice boys. They don’t play sports during the breaks- I don’t really like that. It’s not a rule - it’s just that the boys learn extra instead.

DS is there in ninth grade and he is happy. I thought he would have a very hard time with the long schedule but BH he seems to be ok with it. He is working hard (possibly for the first time in his life). He doesn't learn extra during recess but they walk to different stores or hang out. Can't answer your other questions because we are new there but Rabbi Brus does seem to be very good and understands the boys etc

I heard the boys have great middos!
Is the mesivta run in an organized manner?

Rabbi Brus really understands the boys and puts a major emphasis on bein adam lachaveiro. Not to say it’s perfect but much of the stuff that goes on between grades at other mesivtas for example is not there by Brus.

He is lichatchila looking to take a good boy who is not perfect and make him even better. Other places want the perfect boys to start with.

He is great with methodology and teaches the boys how to learn rather than loading them up with achronim and reid in ninth grade. He has smart kids, fairly high level as mesivtas go, mostly below the level of Cohens and Slomowitz but a few kids in each shiur can give any kid in the top mesivtas a run for their money.

Also looking into Brus now

My son is very smart boy
His menahel is very into sending the boys to Yeshivahs where they would be from the top 1/3

I was told it became more shtark the last 2 years is that true?
Are the boys mostly from balabatish families or mix of families
Are they into brand name clothing etc

My main concern is socially how my son will fit in
He is a temimesdik boy, follows the rules type boy
Although we aren’t very yeshivish but also not balabatish either

My son is there. There is a range of families, yeshivish , balabatish, some very wealthy.

Rabbi brus teaches the ninth grade and really teaches them How to learn Gemara.
Also a big emphasis on middos and being a mentch.

I think it’s from the more structured mesivtas so that has to work for your son. There are unofficial “rules” about for example eating out, some boys it’s too much, others want to do whatever rebbi says.

my son has quite a few wealthy boys in his class I was concerned but I don't find the boys care about it at all.

My son is in the bais medrash. He has been very happy since 9th grade. Rabbi Brus really is something special. My son has a very strong kesher with him, as well as with the other rabbeim.
