My husband and I are 22 and 23 and expecting our first in June iyH. We are looking to move into the Pennington apartment building. We don’t really have any friends there but I’m wondering if maybe we’ll make. We’re not Yeshivish, but YU machmir. My husband wears a black hat. Does anyone know what the community is like? Are there parks near by? How close are local grocery stores? Any information is helpful!

Come visit!
You're the right "type" and it's a friendly community. Pennington apartments is mainly people like you. (At least the Jewish tower).
It's also very compact, maybe 2 mi across. So you do need two cars but the grocery store and schools are all only a few minutes away.
Lots of shuls, two kosher groceries, Brookhaven Jewish mall, 3 schools. Quite a few playgrounds. Most parts are more city like than suburban but no traffic. One park is larger, the others are all small.

Hi! I'm 24 and moved to Passaic around a year and a half ago when I got married. Neither my husband nor I are from Passaic originally. When I was engaged and told people that I was moving here, everyone kept telling me, "Oh, I know so many young couples moving/have moved there!" When we came, it took a really long time to meet the young couples since everyone lives all over the place. We finally found a shul that has more young people (like the newlywed demographic) and I finally feel like I'm part of something here. We live in a basement apartment, but it's probably easier to make friends if you live in an apt building like the Pennington.
I left out some information here so I don't completely give myself away, but I'm happy to PM you with more info.

We have three schools, there are a ton of playgroups ranging from babysitting type drop off places to places that have a full programs.
There arelots of different types of shuls (YI to Yeshiva G’dola), two supermarkets, two pizza places, a bagel shop, two meat restaurants, a few frum clothing stores.
From what I heard, it does take some time to meet other couples because most young couples are in school and/or have parents who live in town so they spend a lot of time with their families. I think most people make friends in either playgroups or shul. Ppl are very friendly and welcoming, but also busy. I think, it’s like that in every community. When I moved here over 15 years ago. Someone encouraged me to go to local events, either sponsored by community organizations or buy a shul, until I met people. That’s how I got to know ppl
