If a child has high levels of lead at a blood test will the city come down to test the house or apartment. Will the city reach out to parent before they come or do they just show up unannounced? What are the fines?

Are you the landlord? Or the tenant parent?

Parent.
The doctor called me and let me know. I’m coming in tomorrow to discuss.
I’m wondering what to expect.

If you’re a tenant the city will totally be on your side. Any fines or other headaches would go to the landlord.
There is some medical treatment for high lead levels, that should be your focus for right now

What if the tenant did construction without permits and without landlord permission and the lead was only found after that because they didn't clean properly.

Thank you!
I’m worried for my child.
And I’m also worried about the logistics of moving out while they fix the issue.

Lead is really bad for your child. Please take whatever steps you can to stop the exposure ASAP.

my kids had high lead. I think the Dr suggested iron drops. not positive, it was years ago. I really don't think anyone ended up coming to our house to look. just be aware if you have any toys from China, etc, that kids mouth and might have lead. and get retested.

I had one child with high lead while a tenant. Dr has to report, no option not to. City will come down and test for lead in walls. If it’s only from cleaning up they won’t find anything. By is they decided one wall and a door needed to be replace. Landlord had to take care of it all. The city was very strict, sent down inspectors and if they went not they’re 9 am working they got fined. Worked worked 9-5 and then we were able to go back in for the night so you would only have to figure out an hour or two if kids are in school. I think I just took them for pizza. Was only a day or two, the workers are quick and professional as city has strict oversight. I think city came back again to retest after work was done.

The city will hold the landlord responsible anyway.

If you are in an old building, of course there is lead. I was told to vacuum and damp dust as part of the cleaning on the regular to get the level down. Make sure its not from your water pipes. Never use the hot water faucets for cooking or drinking. Always run the cold water for a minute in the morning before using it. Best to filter water.
