According to pishposhbaby the only difference is that the performance is warmer. Is the performance needed for NY winters or is the universal warm enough? Price isn’t an issue. It’s more that I don’t want my baby to overheat

Regular is plenty warm. Especially if your kid is wearing a coat.

The performance has a layer that can be removed if it's too warm.
