Can anyone recommend an organizer for an elderly hoarder in the NY area?

I don't think just any organizer will do; it has to be someone who can understand a little the resistance they will meet, and the emotional connection that a hoarder has to their stuff.

And someone who will be non judgement and respectful. Who will know when to push through the resistance, and when to hold back.

Please would love recommendations or for anyone to share their thoughts.

Thank you!

I used her.
She has experience with both seniors (she worked in a senior home) and organizing.

Organizing is a temporary bandaid. Hoarding needs deeper inner work

This. If the person is truly a hoarder, an organizer won’t get anywhere.

True, the mental aspects need to be addressed to effect a permanent change, but an organizer can help get the place into shape so it's temporarily livable before an important event such as a family visit or a move

Most organizers will tell you that even people who are not certifiable sufferers of hoarding disorder (which is a species of anxiety disorder ) but are just garden-variety clutter bugs, usually backslide within a year. It's a lot like losing weight (and gaining weight can in fact be a form of hoarding)--unless one exerts tremendous effort on an ongoing basis, one will revert to previous behavior patterns and end up right back where one started. But that's no reason not to start.
