My son has been needing some help lately. I just don't now which way to go and hoping some of you can recognize some symptoms so I can know which specialist to turn to.

Kriah - he is struggling with keeping up with the class. Has a grasp on most of the basics but reads very very slowly.

Executive function - he gets very overwhelmed when it comes to doing things like getting dressed, cleaning up. He gets lost and gives up. Or takes forever to complete.

Behavior - he melts down at any sign of something doesn't like. I said he can't wear his shabbos shoes to cheder on Rosh Chodesh - instant crying meltdown.

Any ideas what these add up to? I really want to get him the help he needs without running around to a million different providers/specialists.

try tackle one thing at a time for now.
he's still young and all these things individually are totally ok for a five year old to be grappling with
obv if in 6 mths he hasn't made progress in any area re think professional help.
for now: krioh, only way is revision every night or morning. while he's eating breakfast may work better. 3 lines a day and then a sticker and if he gets 6 stickers by end of wk he gets a prize from your prize box
he should speed up with this regular revision. it should take 2 minutes a night....

he's 5 which means he won't be efficient and doing a bunch of things one after another without prompting.
Visuals help, chart for morn for ex....shirt and pants (mom will help with rest), brush teeth, shoes, breakfast. setting out the clothes the night before in order of how he puts them on, think train line on his bedroom floor also helps....ex underwear, tsitsis, shirt, pants, socks, then shoes...he follows the line putting them on.
Try plan before for things like rosh chodesh and change. try give choices ex you can wear a white shirt or shabbos shoes which would you choose.
even when u know his answer giving him the choice makes him feel better.
bath now or in 5 min.
hopefully some of this helps.
5 years old is sill very young and sometimes our expectations are a little high....

You have some really great advice here! I hope to implement a bunch of them.

I agree that we def expect much from this age. I have to keep reminding myself how young he actually is.

Thing about kriah is that his cheder is pressing us to get him a tutor. Just not sure who what when.

What method words? Who is good?

Get an OT eval first before trying a tutor.

Sounds like he might benefit from reflex integration and vision therapy. Or a brain balance type program, which combines the two. They work a little deeper than just OT.
