I am so bummed out. I’ve been looking for a new wig for half a year. I have about $2500 saved up. This is a big deal, my wigs are 4 years old and I’m ready to look young and updated again.
But I just can’t find anything in or even a little over my budget. I didn’t want lace (three reasons- 1- to keep my current standards in tznius and not go down a level, even though it’s 100% ok as per my Rav but it’s also ok to be machmir; 2- I never had a lace and I imagine the look of The lace piece will be hard for me to get used to and 3- durability. Lace wigs go much much faster than skin tops)
But skin tips got a major update over the last year in terms of ribbon fronts and flatness so it needs to be from an updated company vs a sale wig at a pop up that is older stock and not as updated.
One wig brand is too puffy and texturized. Another doesn’t come in my color and would need coloring work done- but I’ll have already committed to and paid for the wig and may not like the final product. Another doesn’t fit right on my large head, the part is too short.
I have paid $1-4000 before on various things including a watch, a couch a bag and a bracelet. Each time I only make a large purchase if I am 100% happy. And with most things there’s even a warranty or it’s returnable etc or there’s plenty of online reviews. With a wig they’re asking me to pay $2-2500 for something I may not even be happy with the final result.
I’m so frustrated and at a loss
So I’m wearing my ugly 4 year old wig and feeling not good about myself at all
Vent!!!!

Bump!
What prompted my op was trying on a nice wig- processed- that on sale would be close to 3 k but it needs a lot of coloring work (included in the price) and I do t feel comfortable putting down 3 k when I can’t see the final color. If I’m not happy then what? I’m a soft personality and likely can’t stand my ground.
Im really feeling sad over this whole situation

OP 4 year old wigs are not old! My newest one is 7 years old and looks great! My other one is 12 years old and also looks great. Maybe instead of a new one you can refurbish (color? Cut? Restyle?) your current one?

I just colored and it didn’t help. And now I’m annoyed that I spent money coloring it that I could have put toward a new one. The cut is fine.
It doesn’t look very old, dh tells me I look good in it BH, but it’s outdated and does not give me a fresh, updated young look. I just don’t feel good it in.
