It drives me nuts, I thought the state of girls education would have changed by now.
Why does my daughter need to memorize a Rashi? Literally memorize word for word with nekudos? Why does she need to memorize mi amar el mi and Al mi neemar.
Please tell me how this is teaching them.
Why not teach them to read the rashi out from the Chumash. Why not teach them how to go inside and find the answers to Al mi neemar.

It really bugs me

This is how I learned. I tried SO hard but literally info wouldn’t go in. I def had some type of diagnosis maybe auditory processing..
A night before a test I’d cram as much as possible and usually do a decent grade. If u asked me 3 days later what I memorized I wouldn’t be able to tell you.
DH took MCATs 8 years ago and can still repeat info from back then.

I was like that too. B”H in high school and seminary I learned how to learn inside. I think the memorizing is literally cruel and also not teaching them anything expect to hate memorizing. Let them learn to understand, to think, to find answers. It’s doing them a huge disservice
