We are putting in a half bath/powder room and was not planning to tile the walls (cuts expenses significantly).
My friends powder room is completely tiled and I asked her why she went that route she said because boys make mess around toilets and tile is easier to clean.
I never thought of this so I figured I'd ask here.
If you have a half bath/powder room do the walls near the toilet get dirty? Is this an issue?
Is it worth tiling because of this?

I have a powder room on main floor and only the floor is tiled. my boys make plenty of messes. But mainly the pee lands on the floor. I wipe around the toilet daily. The walls are have wallpaper but I never see pee on the walls

Nah you can still wipe painted walls. Just use a paint that's good for bathrooms.

This. I had some water/dampness issues in my bathroom (no boys) and I painted it with a mold-killing primer and suitable paint. No issues since....

I've seen bathrooms half tiled. Like shoulder height I think.

I have tile floors and wallpaper for my powder room and my project next year is to pull off the wallpaper and tile the walls for this very reason.
Maybe my boys and their friends are extra messy

I have tiles half up the wall in my bathroom. Yes my boys definitely get it onto the wall. I do find it easy to clean the tiled wall. But that 's all I have so I can't compare it to painted wall.

I have painted walls and one of my ds gets it all over. I never feel like it’s truly clean.

You need full tile for a room with a shower. Not for just a bathroom

Our regular bathrooms have tiled walls. I thought powder rooms (toilet and sink only) don't need tiled walls until this friend brought this up.

If you can tile for all the boy reasons. Even get the most inexpensive tile that's plain so it can be easily wiped & not smell bad
