I got caught. I know I should not have been checking directions on my phone while driving. I did not know that they would personally fish me out of 3 lanes of flowing traffic to ticket me while dozens of other drivers sped past doing the same thing. OK, it should be a kapparah, and I'm more careful now, and will move faster to replace my third type of hands-free phone holder that broke randomly throwing my phone in my face while driving.
Went online to pay the ticket and I see it puts FIVE points on my driving record, which is probably going to make my already cringey insurance go up forever, and I'm starting to panic.
Is there any hope of getting the points reduced? I can't fight the fact that I got caught using my phone because I was so flustered that when they asked why I was using the phone I said "to check where I need to turn" instead of keeping my big mouth shut and they were definitely recording the interaction. So I don't think pleading not guilty is going to happen.

Talk to a lawyer and see if they can help. They may be able to get it knocked down and you'll have just a fee or less points.
Certainly wouldn't try to fight it on my own.
You can always take a defensive driver class that usually knocks 2 points off your record
