Ds8 a little uncomfortable Q

My ds8 (turning 9 in a couple months) is always rubbing against his bed when he goes to sleep etc. it makes me very uncomfortable. I know many mothers have said oh when they’re little it’s fine they don’t know what they’re doing and it just feels good for them but let’s be real here he’s almost 9… how much longer can I let this continue? I am VERY embarrassed to ask our rav about this, I know I prob shouldn’t be… I was reading In the r’ matisyahu solomon book and his mehalach was to nip it in the bud early and tell them it’s assur but not talk about it more than that.

At this point what do I do? I come from a family with only sisters so I don’t know at what point this is really going to become an issue.. I have said things to my boys about no hands in our pants/touching but technically that’s not what he’s doing

I’ve spoken to dh about it. Unfortunately my son is a stronger personality, very stubborn and in general doesn’t really take mussar well even the soft gentle type - ESP from dh (and dh is very good about being very calm, gentle and sensitive about giving ds talks, mussar)

I don’t want to say it in a way that will make him feel guilty and bad about himself but it’s coming to a point where I think I just need to be up front?? Also he shares a room with ds5 and I REALLY don’t want him copying this esp if he wouldn’t have tried it naturally…
