I found an adorable dress for ym girls that I love for ana amazing price.
Issue is there were two size 6s and they need a 4 and 6 and I'd love for them to match.
Is there a foolproof way to shrink a sizs 6 down to a 4?
I'd only buy them if I knew it could be shrunk

The obvious is to wash in hot water and dry in the dryer. But it’s not guaranteed it will shrink a full size.

This but unfortunately, things often shrink in a weird and unflattering way (might end up with shorter sleeves but be too wide, for example. It's probably not going to shrink in proportion). Could you ask the store if they could get another in your preferred size?

Depending on the style of the dress, you can hem it, and shorten the sleeves, and possibly take it in at the waist. But you might not want to go to all that trouble, or expense.
