I have really really enjoyed the summer of not constantly running to the store for school snacks. I want to keep this going once school starts. I get home an hour after my kids (DH is home with them sometimes working sometimes not). I was thinking of printing a list and taping it to the fridge with suggestions of what they can eat that are not the snacks for school.
Has anyone tried something like this and it worked for them? Ill take any suggestions.

I'm not sure I understand.
Why were you buying less snacks in the summer?
Are you looking for school options for your kids or after school options?
Were they eating prepackaged snack bags after school until now? Is that what you're looking to replace? You want them to help themselves to real food snacks after school?

The first 4 weeks camp was giving snacks. Then they were eating more real food that doesnt pack as well like certain fruits and veggies or hot food. I want them to keep eating that stuff vs taking the popcorn or chips or different bars that I buy for school.
Id rather they have the sterns pastry for school and then come home and open a can of baby corn, or eat a vegetable or fruit etc. They are great eaters I just want to make it more intuitive to them.

You can have your dh put out a bowl of fresh fruit or a cut up fruit platter on the table (with lots of yummy options for them, like melons, peaches, plums, kiwi, mango, etc, whatever they like), or cut- up celery sticks and carrots with hummus dip, yogurts, and items like that can become the new after-school, pre dinner snacks.

I have tried the list on the fridge and it worked ok but I found the easiest was for me to serve snack. We don’t do snacks after school but Sunday mornings I put out a snack at 10 and at 3pm. This works well for me.

I let them have a bowl of cereal to hold them off when they come home until I can get a normal dinner on the table Around 6
