My son is in sleepaway camp in August. He had visiting day several weeks back where I tipped the counselor but did not see the rebbe so I went home with his tip and forgot about it.
I received an email from the camp reminding me that I have not yet tipped the rebbe.
I cannot believe this! Do they ask the counselors and rebbeim to write a list of every boy who didn't tip?? What if I didn't have the money. I can't believe this!

Wow, I'd also be floored. It's not a tip if it's mandatory.
Gosh, my son was sick at home his last 2 days of day camp, so I forgot to send tips. Now I'm feeling horribly guilty!

Wow that’s crazy! I would feel so embarrassed and upset…I’d probably give $10 or nothing, depending how he treated my son

That’s awful, I would write back saying you don’t appreciate the reminder and to have to tip someone who works for an hour a day is beyond. Tips are for the counselors who aren’t getting paid, not the adult staff who likely gets accommodations and free camp for their families

That's a bit much...
However at this point tipping is kind of mandatory especially in sleepaway camps.
Could be the camp is so on top of it because they promise the rebbe he will make a certain amount. I would give something but not feel obligated to give the full amount
