I feel like I'm Drowning. We are $50,000 behind mortgage payment, few months behind utilities, tuition, car payments and other bills. Plus we owe $50,000 to a private person who kindly let us wait until we have the money to repay the loan. My husband has a decent job but not enough to cover the monthly expenses, definitely not the accrued debt.
I worked a low paying part time job but my employer moved to a new location last week so I was forced to leave. I'm due in three weeks and I have other limitations which makes it nearly impossible to find a job now.
HELP!!!! Its like we take one step forward and ten steps backwards with no end in sight!

Maybe you need to sell your house and downsize? It sounds unsustainable at the moment. I don't want to be insensitive but maybe clear your debt before you have more children after this one.

Hugs.
My husband repeatedly loses his jobs and although we are both professionals, we can't afford a mortgage or even to do "basics".
I have had to take on extra work, work full full time and overtime... just to pay our electric bill and put food on the table.
Here is what I would do:
1. Take a hard look at all expenses and income. Current income, not what you could make because you are having a baby and need at least 6 weeks after to be able to go back to work.
2. Cut back whatever and wherever you can. Not every kid of mine is getting a new backpack this year. Their school shoes/sneakers are still good so not getting new "just because" - they will outgrow them soon and I will buy then. Buy needs only.
3. Can you get maternity leave pay? I dont know if you have to be actively working for all benefits- you wouldnt get FMLA but maybe disability? If not, Can your boss keep you on for 3 weeks so you can get maternity leave coverage early? I don't think it costs extra as usually it comes out of your taxes. If not, can you work for the next 2 weeks, drive the crazy distance, so that you will be eligible?
4. Look at mortgage. How much would rent be? You don't need as big a place as you have. Make do in an apartment...
5. Any way to increase income? Can you do something from home? Can he do a second job?
6. What are your career possibilities? You said low pay but is that short term or something that you expect to increase significantly?

Hatzlacha.
