My baby is 6 weeks old. Her scalp smells terrible even right after I wash it.
Why is it and what can I do?

It’s not noticeable but if I scrape with my nail, dead skin will come up. Is that it?

Does your baby have a lot of hair? I found my baby that was born with a lot of hair always had an oily smell to it for the first few weeks. I don't remember when it stops but eventually it stops being so oily and smelly. Pretty sure by 2 months the smell became much better. This baby did not have cradle cap, just an oily scalp.

What type of soap do you use? Sometimes that mixed with cradle cap results in terrible smell
