Pros and Cons of getting the Libby app for my kids? (library app).

Is there a way to filter it so they don't see "adult" material?

If I got it, I would not be picking and choosing for them - they would have free reign over the app, so I would want to set it up in a way that they don't see anything above PG type level.

Not a good idea, my daughter was reading not nice magazines and deleting them so I didn't know until I saw the history on a different device. I don't think there is a way to filter it out.

Can you download stuff for her and then disable the Internet so she doesn't have access to browse?

Thanks - that's what I was thinking.

It's a real shame.
Because my kids would love it.
And it could be a fantastic app, if they would have in-app filters.

I wish they had a kids only option. We gave it to one of my kids because she lives on audio books but I’m not thrilled.

Try Hoopla. It’s also connected to the library and has a kid mode.

I don't think you can filter for just kids. Even if you could, you'd be surprised how inappropriate some kids books have become. Would recommend strongly not to get it.

As a young teen I had a kindle and would borrow books from local library, they had an online kindle book library as well. I ended up reading so many inappropriate things. Would not recommend at all.

You can buy cheap used Kindles, and then set your kids up with a Kindle account that only you have access to to send them books. Parental controls on the Kindle can disable all the social and shopping features.

I am also interested in your Gemach.

Firstly where do you live? I am asking because I live in London and might be interested in starting this kind of idea here depending on where you live?

I would not want to start a gemach if you are already providing a service for children living in London.
