But I only need large plates, small plates, and soup bowls.

If it came with medium (salad) plates and small (dessert?) Bowls, that would be nice but unnecessary.

I do not need and don't want to pay for the teacups and saucers etc That tend to come with. I will just throw them out Confused

it's a pretty good deal even if you don't use the cups and saucers. Can you sell them on ebay?

Go into the store (the Amazon store, under the brand names or said visit store) and you might find the pieces you want sold separately.

Or as another person suggested, sell the teacups you don't want.

I have the same set you linked from when I got married. I sold the cups and saucers (for like $10/ $15 locally).
It is a good deal and very nice china.
