Our school is in its second year of using smartboards. They've now put one in each grade, and I Love Them !!! I have yet to really learn to use them. Anyone else work with smartboards? What do you do with them?

I've seen smartboards being used.

But it won't inherently make your lesson better. If the lesson is good- a smartboard enhances it. If it's boring...well, 'aint nuthin that's gonna help that.

Smartboards are great IF your IT person keeps them running. One glitch and they're down for the count.

What grade a subject do you teach? I can give ideas Smile

what subject/grade do you teach?
I use it in kindergarten at least twice a week,
either I make powerpoints
or I use it to make lists
I especially love the document camara, I just pop the story book under it and there is no more "Morah I can't see!"
but I must say that we have the most amazing tech person in our school

I LOVE Smartboards!!
I love being able to just take your class (upper grades) online to "search" for answers together. Obviously, you (the teacher) should do the whole search beforehand...
There are also some great things you could do on a smartboard to make the material more accessible and easier to read for students with low vision.

for 3rd grade - you could really turn it into a center
you could make games where they need to fill in blanks, and have the words to the side, the kids just drag over the correct answer - you could also do matching games - the same idea.
you should obviasly use it as a multi media tool - download vidioes from the internet (chabad.org, itche kaduzie - parsha quiz) to inhance what your teaching.
use it as you teach as a regular white board, you can then print it off and make copies for all the students.
spend some time getting to know the smart notebook software, you could copy and paste pictures from the internet directly onto it, and then mark it all up.
ENJOY!

I have never heard of a smartboard until I opened this thread but it sounds like you can do amazing things with it! Good luck to whoever gets to use them!

How many did they get? Each room have them? It's the way of the future. Makes blackboards obsolete,

Our school is an elemetary and a high school. All the class rooms except for the preschoool got the smart boards. It was paid for by the parent's association. (we raised the bucks...the parents that is).

We got one recently in our school. So far it's for math and science. I'm part of a team investigating how to integrate technology into kodesh classes. Any ideas, anybody?

I love my Smartboard!!

soldat, what's the document camera? Sounds like something I would use.

teachby, I have a printer/scanner/copier in my room hooked up to my computer, so I scan things and put them up on the smartboard.

Also, any worksheet that I have saved in Word that the kids work on at home or in class I put up on the board, and they can come up to the board and write in their own answers.

I found this Jeopardy template online, which is great - you use the template and write all your own questions (English or Hebrew). I've used it a couple of times for review games. I can't find the exact website that I got mine from, but google it, there are a bunch out there.
