Just curious if anyone else relates. I follow a lot of wig pages on social media and a majority of wig posts from the last few years across the board consist of almost all lace wigs.
I got married less than two years ago so my first wig was a lace since there wasn’t much skin top available. I was told they are outdated.
I just got a skin top from the Irene’s sale simply bc I adored the style and the price was fantastic. I was also intrigued by a less delicate wig that doesn’t need a band under it. I had them remove wefts, debulk, and add baby hair.
Both wigs are beautiful, my lace is more versatile while the skin top has thicker textured hair (lace is Euro hair, skin is Brazilian), but when I hold them both hand in hand, the skin top wig doesn’t feel a lot heavier or thicker. It’s also not much heavier on my head. Both were tailored to my head too, so it’s not a lace wig that just wasn’t done well.
I’m wondering if lace isn’t necessarily so much natural but it’s just a matter of tailoring any wig well to the hairline and debulking. Does anyone else here either like both kinds or actually prefer non lace?
I have a very wide head and I’m very sensory so maybe I am the odd one out here.
Also, for those of you who have a great skin top, what brand is it?
I’m also intrigued by the new Eva and Chloe flat skin top and if anyone has tried it.

I refuse to buy lace tops and fronts because I don't want to deal with the maintenance. And I think they start looking bad really fast, they look best when straight from the shaitel macher but not after some time. I also think most women look better with a bit of height and not flat plastered against the head. I have a zissy now which isn’t so perfect at the hairline, but I don’t care, the hair is beautiful and it’s comfortable and I get many compliments on it. I’m getting a new shaitel soon. A ronit, Skin top with regular baby hair, no lace anywhere.

same here. Dont want to buy a lace top due to the maintenance and half the people who wear it are not careful and it looks really bad. I have an Irene with a ribbon and I think it is better.
