You can get a decent printer for $60. For example:

The problem is that it's not the printer that costs, it's the ink.

Depending on how much printing you do, it might be worth it to get a printer that uses liquid ink bottles. They are way way cheaper than ink cartridges and you can get a lot more out of them. But those printers are usually $200+.

I have an HP Envy Injet Printer and it has been very reliable for many years. My particular model isn't available. It scans, copies and prints.

I also subscribe to the HP ink fulfillment. You pay monthly for a set number of pages. If you don't use the pages in a month, they roll over and just accumulate. You pick how many pages and you can go up or down as necessary.

Since the printer is wireless, it connects to the HP website which monitors how much ink you have and sends you refills when necessary. Very convenient to not have to run to the store and hope they have the ink cartridges you need.

I don't print that much at this point since almost everything is digital. I send and receive documents through email. I save documents on my computer. I am almost completely paperless as all of my financial statements are online rather than mailed to me. If I have a document I need to save and it is on paper, I generally scan it and save it on the computer in the appropriate file. The only documents I keep are those which you need originals for like Birth/Death Certificates, Deeds, Wills, Trust Papers.

I have the very low usage plan and it probably is less expensive than purchasing cartridges.

I bought the least expensive HP ENVY. Mine must be almost 10 years old at this point so the model isn’t available. This is the one I think is equivalent. Mine was less but that was years ago and so prices have gone up since then.
