Iyh making a shabbos bar mitzvah very soon. I'm wondering if the amount I put aside for it is the norm. Can anyone tell me what the costs were by theirs?
It's shabbos meals.plus kiddush.
I'm not using a caterer for everything.

Very much depends where you live.
Our bar mitzvas in Jerusalem -
Kiddush - ~300 shekels.
Shabbos meals for about 50 people -
Shul hall rental for the whole shabbos - 1000 shekels
home cooked food ~ 800 shekels (very approx), don't really remember.

Depended how many ppl you are preparing food for.
When I did my own cooking it cost half of the catering cost.

This is for sure not recent. I would say to feed 50 family members 3 meals on Shabbat is not 800 shekel now. No way. I feed my family of 6 with that amount.
Kiddush for 300 shekel? Also not recent. Depends on the Shul, but I would say at least 1500- 2500 shekel. You can have friends help and bake cakes, salads but there are still all the Chad Paemi plates, cups, drinks. Kugel for 100 pple. (at least)
OP you need to tell us how big is your Shul? members? friends walking in to say Mazel Tov to you.
