On my whats app, there is now a plus sign (+) instead of the notebook and pencil feature that starts a chat. How do I get that icon back? I shut off and restarted my phone but that didn’t help.Can’t find info on internet.

You mean Whatsapp? I don't think I understand. They updated to a new icon and you want to switch back to the old icon? Don't think you can. Why can't you just use the new icon?
Mine has a button on the lower right for starting a new chat.

The button to start a chat is missing. It used to be in the top right corner or lower right corner. Now there’s a + sign on top right.
