Is there such a thing as formula feeding on demand, like nursing?
How do I know when to increase amount of ounces

I had been told if they finish the whole bottle then they’re ready for more ounces.

They might cry if there's not enough.
But I usually make a bit more than needed so they can always get more if they need. Once they start eating that more I'll make more. There's usually about 1/2 ounce left in the bottle when done.

You can usually tell if the baby looks full and happy. I've had times where my son wouldn't quiet down, no matter what I tried till I gave him a double feeding.
I usually wait 3 hours between feedings but it's not an iron clad rule.

Thanks for the replies. Is there a thing as over feeding. I'm giving 3 oz to a newborn.

There is a thing of overfeeding. How old is this newborn?

I think newborns take at most 2 ounces. That’s why the hospital bottles are 2 ounces. Your pediatrician should be able to tell you how much your baby should be eating.

Not crazy.
If by newborn you mean like 1-2 months old that's pretty typical

My newborn took more than 2 ounces. It depends how big the baby is.
