My ds came home on thursday saying that he refuses to go to cheder the next day cus they were tested that day and he claimed he knew nothing..so he said the class were to be tested the next day and if he didn't know there owuld be trouble.

I tried to explain to him that running away from a test is not the way of life.. life will have much biggerharder tests. but he didn't want to listen.

later I called the cheder superviser and he said because teh class had played around he wanted them to realize that they allso need to learn.. though ds is not one of the troublemakers in class. he actually likes to spend his time in recess learning. alos they had hada tiyul that week.

the next morning he kicked up a fuss I tried to ignore it.. he had learnt with my sil the night before. (she's a teacher) and he knew it. so I ignored himand did whati need to do. later I called the rebbe. Dh though decided he needs to be punished butwheni spoke tosomeone she said sometimes ways of life is an enough punishment ie if he didn't go then he'll still be tested the next week. eventually he agreed to go.

but how do I get him to raelize that runningaway froma test is no good... what will he do when he has bigger tests in life to over come??

he's 8 1/2 now...

well ... not easy ... but let him know that if he misses the test it's counted as a "0" zero zilch nada ... and he probably is smarter than that mark ... so better to get what he can on it ...

also I think it's just part of growing up ... when you see the negative consequences - you change the plan of action ... if you're smart ...

good luck!!!
