Its your birthday. Your husband asks you what you want for your birthday. You answer:
"I would really love a ___"
Asking bec I don't know what to answer, would like ideas what you would want.

My bday is in 2 weeks, I'm dreaming of a massage, facial, pedicure... day at a spa... but that is just way out of our reach financially... sigh...
so, I'm asking for a hand blender (immersion blender) - not so romantic, but very practical. 8)

Yes, definitely: DINNER FOR TWO.
Out. In a nice cosy restaurant.
With time for entry, nice meal and dessert or coffee.
And the opportunity to chat while being nicely dressed - thus both looking nice to each other (important) and just spend some nice quality time together.
To Chat doesn´t mean talk about the weather, it can be about the kids (without them overhearing for once, ha ha), your projects for the upcoming holidays, wishes and hopes, some talk about the last book you read or the last topic you´ve learned...
While the kids - if kids there are, bli ayin hara - are being watched by babysitter or understanding grandparents, so you don´t have to worry about the hour.
If no time for that - it can happen:
- a small walk just the two of you, be it on shabbos, on sunday or just in the evening...
- well, that´s a gift you could use all the year round once in a while.
- some tapes/cds of good shiurim (I recommend Rav Paysach Krohn, but there are plenty of them), preferably a box-set, not a few copies, since it´s a gift
- the latest books published by Feldheim or Artscroll, depending what you´re interested in.
- a necklace or armwrist is nice for once.
- if you´ve seen an outfit you´d like, take him with you to show him, and if he likes it, show him the price-tag. Dependent on the price and your current finances, you should nevetheless take a "no, not now" as a possible and perfectly acceptable and reasonnable answer. It did already give you two the opportunity for a walk together...

Well... turns out I didnt need to worry...
He got home from work... and showed me the gift he already had waiting at home.
He remembered my request for a gift that even I didnt... I had said I would love a teflon fleishig pan for my birthday... and he rememberd my saying I needed to buy kitchen towels...
So he bought a teflon frying pan and kitchen towels!! I am so amazed he remembered...
And we're going out for our birthdays on our english birthday...
And now I have to get him his birthday gift... a straightening iron for his peyos... He specifically requested that.

Well, seeing as his hairs naturally curly, he thinks curls are a mess... (Doesnt want to try a curling iron.)
So far he's been blow drying his peyos, but that makes them puffy... hopefully an straightening iron wont do that...

you need some gel and to twist them while wet ... so they make natural curly-que payos - this way they are neat ... he wouldn't want his peyos all burnt out - considering he can't trim them ...

He does that.
Either way, he wants a straightening iron... He probably would prefer them burnt and dead- they're a little too "alive" now.
