I want something to keep me on track, so I wondered if anyone else wants a Flylady thread where we post (anonymously or not) our successes? I think it would really motivate me if I have someplace to "brag"--cause I'm not going to call up my friends and say "hey I just washed the Shabbos dishes and it's not even Thursday night, woo-hoo!!!"

Okay, so I'll start:

Yesterday I cleaned my entire ground floor (kitchen, bathroom, entryway, living room, dining room). We were supposed to be having a guest for supper, he ended up not being able to come, but so what, the house is sparkling on the ground floor!!!!!!!!! I'm so loving the way it looks. So relaxing and everyone--husband, me, kids--was in a good mood. It was awful before. I had dishes everywhere, the kitchen floor was gray and sticky cause I hadn't washed it in 3 weeks, and there were rotten tomatoes on the counter. The whole living room/dining room floor was covered in crumbs and toys and junk. It was such a huge job, I was exhausted, but wow!!! I really want it to stay this way. I'm going downstairs now to go tidy up so I can maintain it. Already my yetzer hara is saying, oh, come on, why not rest a little, you worked so hard yesterday, you deserve it. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Yetzer hara, you can't get me!!!!!!! I'm going downstairs right NOW, and I'm going to have a treat when I finish tidying up!

P.S. My upstairs and basement are beyond horrible, since I had to stash a bunch of dirty dishes, laundry, etc. yesterday. I'm going to tackle the upstairs today. But I'm really making progress! I'm going to tackle the upstairs today. Wish me luck!

Good for you, amother- that's great! this is so funny, bec just yesterday I was thinking of posting my successful feelings bec I've been so proud.
I finally got myself in the habit, of every evening making sure the dishes are done, then wiping down the sinks, counters and stovetop. Then I sweep the floor and wash it (the kitchen floor) and I sweep the living room and dining room.
I know it may sound simple to others, but it makes me so happy to wake up to a sparkling clean kitchen!

I'm a naughty flybaby, although I tout flylady to everyone, and fall off the flylady derech on some days BUT... I have noticed that days I do follow everything I am more calm.

For instance, I used to panic when a babysitter would come over (!) because I was embarrassed! No one could come over unnanounced or I would freak out! Now that flylady has taught me that I can really straighten up in 15 minutes, I don't feel I need an hour to get the house perfect. and it has done away with perfectionism!

I have an apartment that badly needs renovating. We bought it to fix it up, and just haven't had the money yet. I let everything slide because I was frustrated that the floor is a magnet for dirt and needs to be mopped more than once a day, the counters are old and an browish orangey color. They are so old that even when they are spotless, they still do not look so nice. But I let the depression over these things get the better of me and did nothing to help myself

. B"h once I discovered flylady, I stopped making excuses like "I"ll have a nice home once we rennovate!" My sink was always clogged and looked well... I made excuses about the sink, but then when I got in the habit of cleaning it all the time, Viola! No more problems with the sink...

I think I am inspiring my husband finally to paint the kitchen! When I was depressed and didn't care, we both thought "what is the use." I think flylady has helped me get over my perfectionism, procrastination and despair that runs in cycles!

Just goes to show that even a flawed flybaby who is moving VERY slowly can still get results!

FLylady has been a brachah while I was pg with dd, after she was born, while we moved, and now while I'm working full time. Things are a bit less programmed right now bc I'm still adjusting, but I manage to swish and swipe, shine my sink, and put out my clothes the night before, and do a load of laundry a day (or thereabouts)!

for a couple of weeks I got kelly sneak peak mailings, but I didnt get any this week, and for some reason I got only one kely challenge this week altogether!!!
I think im gonna do something different.. im gonna collect the challenge for the day for a week, so that I can have a daily to do list, and use it a week behind normal schedule..if we got a kelly sneak peak every week I wouldnt have to do this.
oh for the website, someone asked for flylady.net

OP here.

Everyone is doing so well, I'm really glad to hear about all your successes!!! It really does feel so good, exactly like you say!

I must admit, though, that I'm tired and grumpy from constantly sweeping, wiping, sweeping, wiping...I must have swept the floor five times today, it's insane how the kids track in dirt and crumbs no matter how strict I am (well, the baby won't eat unless he's crawling around, so I let him have graham crackers on the floor...). Is there no end to the maintenance????

I'm getting inspired reading you ladies' successes, though, so I will keep it up iy"H. It feels really wonderful to live in a clean house. I feel like a mentch!

What do you guys think is a normal amount of time to spend, per day, doing maintenance cleaning? Confused

To those who are already into Flylady, I recommend
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/.....bies/

which helps adapt Flylady principles to a Frum lifestyle. It takes a while to get used to, but it's well worth it.

Why not try a Japanese trick and have everyone put their street shoes up as they walk in and wear house shoes? I know this sounds neurotic, but I can understand why. I have a teeny tiny apartment and two boys and the floor constantly gets dirty. If everyone didn't wear house shoes, it would look terrible.

BTW the floor was a mess yesterday because my son's ice cream dripped all over the place. I thought I would not clean it right now (SHE thinking) because I wanted to be such a good Mommy and read a book to ds (never mind it takes less than a minute to to swipe the floor with a spongey, and I could still read the story!) I thought to myself "He won't remember, when he grows up, how clean the floor was."
Then my four year old brought me the sponge clothe. "Ima...the floor is dirty... it should be clean! "
(right idea now to teach him to do it too! Wink )
So I guess it is important to them and to dh...and no, I do not feel I am neglecting them because every thing in the flylady system is done in only a few minutes.

Take it slowly, I thought it was confusing in the beginning, too, until I caught on. Start with the 31 beginner steps.

I agree...it is especially helpful in getting organized around yomim tovim! I feel much less stressed about a 3 day yom tov and I am more than half way done cooking because of JewishFLyBabies!
