I tried rubbing it with a rag, and nothing doing. Are there any tricks? Should I make it wet also? Thanks.

Try nail polish remover or wd-40. use the tiniest quantity you can get away with, and BE VERY CAREFUL to let the dryer air out thoroughly before using it again. These solvents are flammable and can cause a fire if the vapors remain in the dryer when it's used.

How about drying an old towel to see if the marks come off on it... and repeating until it doesn't rub off.
A side note- didn't you realize the problem when you were transferring clothes into the dryer?

forgive me, but there is NO WAY id clean that machine out with anything flammable like wd 40.
I got a pen in my dryer, and it stained the barrel of my dryer. I tried to remove the ink with a general cleaner, and after a short while nothing more came off. it seems that the ink baked itself into the enamel.
it made no difference, and didnt stain any of my clothing afterward. it just looks kinda ugly. id run a towel or something in tit first to see if all the removable ink is off.
