nowadays, I started sweeping every day or every other day. my kids throw food on the floor as a natural process of eating.

I could not get by without sweeping the kitchen/breakfast room at least 2-3 times a DAY. B"H my kids create messes with paper, food, whatever - I can't stand a dirty floor.

A very wise woman (who happened to be a decade younger than me) once advised me before I got married that the way to keep the house at least "looking" clean, was to keep the floors swept and the cupboard doors shut. It's not ideal, but it sure helps.

Also to keep the counters clear it creates the illusions of a perfect house
I was also taught when straightening your bedroom make beds first and the room will look much tidier than if you were to do it last , Ma how true it is!

I really don't want to sound judgemental but don't your kids make messes when they eat? So how could you not sweep at least once a day?
Maybe I'm a neat freek?

I plead guilty to being one of the two "never"s. There is no 5 second rule in my house! Well, not never, but close enough...

It helps that there is no room in my kitchen for eating.

ill only sweep if my kid makes a major mess around the high chair, otherwise I wait for my cleaning lady who comes once a week. I'm way too lazy.

Now that my baby crawls around and notices every tiny speck on the floor, I have become much more conscientous about sweeping, or else he'll do it for me and everything will go straight into his mouth. Till now, though, I have relied on my great linoleum that hides crumbs and have swept only once or twice a week.

have a tiny kitchen so we eat right outside where there is carpet. I put down a plastic tablecloth cover -so we don't get the carpet as dirty. I wash it about once or week. Sweep it almost daily and kitchen I try to do daily but doesn't alwyas happen.

we try to vaccuum every day but we always make sure to vacuum at least every other day. we work really hard not to attract little visitors who come looking for food and b"h ba"h weve never had a problem with them.
we dont have much of a house to vaccuum so its pretty easy for us. in fact, we dont even have to keep re-plugging in the vaccuum, from one outlet we can clean the whole house 8)

Us Hoosiers (ppl from indiana) have great husbands, huh? My husband sweeps every night! Luckily it's never to messy cuz our dog eats most of the crumbs up everyday.
