So we are going to be just us (DH, me, and four DC 8 and younger) for the first night, my kids love smoked fish - I'm thinking of serving a slice of smoked tuna with maybe cherry tomato - but what else to make it a complete dish?

you can serve it with some guacamole on a toasted baguette slice. or over a small green salad or chopped up and mixed with rice/orzo/quinoa and some pepper and onion. or drizzle with a vinigrette and serve with olives, tomatoes and small pickles.

You can serve with slices of avocado and grapefruit sections on top of lettuce. Make it pretty with sesame seed and/or chopped scalion sprinkled on top.

Or serve sushi-salad style on top of rice (though it may not work if you don't use vinegar)

thanks for the suggestions, they sound great, just that I don't happen to have most of those stuff on hand and I am NOT going on another shopping trip tomorrow. So I guess we'll make do, and keep the suggestions for another time.

Maybe you could serve with some of the vegetables and dressing.

So of course I did end up doing one last shopping trip before yom tov and I got an avocado (at an exorbitant price Twisted Evil ) and kalamata olives, as per suggestions.
I served tuna slices with lightly seasoned avocado salad and cherry tomatoes (DH vetoed the olives for being bitter, oh well, they were good on seuda shlishit with home made labaneh from a neighbor).
It looked and tasted great (olives would have been a great addition though).
