I have a sony cannon and want to delete all the pictures bec I already moved them to my computer. but the only way I can see of doing it is one by one, and that can take days (there are over 500 picts). is there any way of doing it en masse?

some (usually older) cameras dont have a way to delete them all at once. I have a canon powershot. This is how you do it:
-click on menu button
-go to set up option
-scroll down till memory is displayed
-click on set button
-format (delete) memory card

Easy easy easy way to do it is to "FORMAT THE DISK".
It will delete EVERYTHING on the memory card.

How do you do that? my camera keeps prompting me to reformat, or format it and I had no idea what it meant. It has a memory card. Is everything on that memory card, or are some pics in the camera itself?

Yes, that reformatting will clear whatever is on the memory disk. Follow the instructinos.

You can right-click on any empty space and choose ‘format’ from the menu.

You can do that in a digital camera? Or are you saying to do that when the camera is connected to the computer?

Yes, when the camera I connected and you have the folder open where you see the images (from the camera!) then you can right click any empty spot on the folder. I’m pretty sure you get a format option. If NOT, right-click the drive lettering My Computer > F (for example) then you will get it. My camera has an option to format in it’s menu options in the camera itself.
