Is carp cooked the same way gefilte fish is? Water, sugar salt, pepper?

I am sure there are lots of recipes out there, but yes you can cook it that way. Keep in mind though, that gefilte fish comes already seasoned and carp obviously does not, so you will need to season the water more aggressively. When I make it (which is not very often because I have no patience for all those bones), I also add a bay leaf, lemon slices and onion. And I do not let it boil vigorously, I just keep the fish at a gentle simmer.

I cook it the same way as gefilte for 1 hour & 10 min. Either I cook it separately or if room with my gefilte fish after 20 minutes.
