I decided that it's time my 2 1/2 yr old daughter stopped taking her pacifier. She keeps on getting ear infections and I keep on hearing that the same thing over and over again: it's the pacifier. So, enough is enough. Today was the day I decided no more paci! Yeah, right!! My daughter is K"AH a very strong willed (and I mean strong willed!!) little girl but I'm sure she knows her mother is even more strong willed!! Well, shabbos afternoon it was the fight of the stubborn mules!!! It's 2 am and I can still hear her screaming in my head!!!! anyway, while she was screaming, I'm trying to talk very quietly and very calmly tell her that she's a big girl and big girls don't need pacifiers. Only babies need them! So while crying she starts screaming I DON'T WANT TO BE BIG GIRL, I WANT TO BE A BABY!!! I couldn't help myself and just burst out laughing because I never heard her say something like this before!! She saw me laughing so of course she started laughing too!!
Anyway, back to the pacifier story, I realized that I just can't stop her cold turkey, so I cut the pacifier and gave it to her now when she went to sleep at 8. Well, she just now fell asleep. I guess just like a coffee addict you must get your fix or else you can't function. She was not able to fall asleep without her pacifier but I'm sooo proud of her because she did it!!
Oh!!! just before going to sleep she said that she can't wait until the morning so then the pharmacy will open up and then she will be able to pick out a pink pacifier! (in your dreams cutie!!)
Ok, I need to stop rambling, it's late enough!!!
I hope I did'nt bore anyone!! I can't even see what im typing anymroe!

I remember when we took away my oldest's pacifier (the younger one sucked her fingers and never took to the pacifier).

We started slowly - where she just had it in her crib/bed. Then it was just to have it at night. ANd finally, no more.

It made for a few stressful evenings, but we remained firm and eventually, she got over it.

The other important thing to remember is not to do too many things at once. My mother moved me to a bed, started toilet training me and either stopped the bottle or took away my pacifier. I developed a stutter. As soon as she slowed down, the stutter went away.

B"H her toilet training is more or less well established (I think!!). That was also the reason why I waited until now. Now we have to get her a big bed.
