My house is becomming infested with them. I do not know the source. I scrubbed my whole house clean and they are still here. I put up fly catchers and it seems the more I catch the more come. They are not fruit flies, they are the regular big ones.
Anyone any suggestions?? They are really annoying me.

I had to reply to this because I HAD THEM! It has nothing to do with how clean your house is!
It took me months to figure it out(until we called an exterminator!). they are called cluster flies and they invade homes. don't bother checking your screen windows etc... that is not where they are coming in from.
do a search online for cluster flies....it will explain everything!

The flies I had were very very big and slow-very easy to swat. Those kind of flies are cluster flies.
The exterminator helped because he pinpointed where they were coming in from. They were coming in from a hole in the roof that led to the attic and into my kitchen vent - ughhh....the solution was to fix the roof/attic. Then they were finally gone.
If you want you can try avoiding the whole exterminator bit, try to pinpoint where you see them most, or where you first spot them. For example if you see them first in the bedroom , they may be coming up from the basement thru the vents (if you have a basement).
They tend to cluster in basements, attics or dark closed off areas of the house They make their way into the house thru small openings. If you are lucky enough to find the source you can use a raid fly spray and hopefully they will leave and not come back.....
I really feel for you...they drove me to tears!
