This is a poem that my 16 year old neighbor wrote. Thought to share at this time...
Dear Ima and Abba Holtzeberg,
I am overwhelmed with anxiety and fears,
I'm writing to you lonely with eyes full of tears.
We were a pretty normal family until not long ago,
But today I am left here by myself, down below.
Within so little time my warm home became a war zone,
I never would have thought you would leave me so alone.
They barged in with eyes of hatred to kill and riot,
I remember the screaming, blood and sudden quiet.
It was a tornado of confusion, anguish, loss and pain,
An event no human mind will ever know to explain.
A river of tears and blood was all I could see,
Between the destruction, death and debris.
Ima, Abba, I looked for you with fear,
But I couldn't find you anywhere near.
I cried such a bitter cry, to my Father above,
That he bestow upon me some of his endless love.
I was miraculously saved from that dark disarray,
Although from you I was painfully torn away.
Ima and Abba I really hurt for you so much,
I miss your smiles, warmth and loving touch.
I know that you didn't live just ordinary lives,
All your deeds were pure, free of egoistic drives.
You lived with a genuine love for all of G-d's creation,
You'd seek only the best for the unity of our nation.
Your lives were dedicated to lighting up others,
Hosting, helping, teaching your dear brothers.
Everyone tells me of your care and consideration,
And of your constant modest deeds for your congregation.
Abba, without Ima you wouldn't flee,
Knowing that you would pay an irreversible fee.
With your Talit you covered her with such care,
To lose both of you, just seems to me so unfair.
This is not a personal lose that I've gone through,
It is a devastation for every single Jew.
You're worried for me, for I'm barely even three,
But you've adopted Am Yisrael, and now Am Yisrael will adopt me.
No one can extinguish the eternal light you did spread,
Or the things you accomplished in the lives that you lead.
Towards the light at the end of the tunnel, we shall always proceed,
By learning and teaching more Torah, everyone adding a good deed.
In your lives and in your death you are an inspiration,
True role models for our whole generation.
Ima and Abba I love you dearly and miss you,
In your name I will seek what is right and what is true.
Please daven for all of us down here,
That in Jerusalem we will be next year.
To serve Hashem and sing him praise,
May he bring the Geulah speedily in our days.
I love you!
Your son,
Moishie Holtzeberg
