I was shopping for twin fitted sheets and found some really nice ones marked Twin Fitted XL. Would they be extra large? Could I use them on a "regular" size twin bed, or would they be too large for the standard twin?

They are indeed longer and would not fit well.

It means extra long. They will be too long on a standard twin mattress. There are special "extra long" twin mattresses that are longer than standard and that is what these sheets are for.

Wow, thanx for telling me. And I almost went out today to get them; they were sale priced for $10 a set at CW Price in MI, but I definitely do not need extra long, yikes!

My college dorm had extra long twin beds. I think it might be common in dorms.

Right, they're usually for college dorm mattresses. That's the kind they told me to get back when I was a freshman.
