Glatt A La Carte Salad - PORTOBELLA MUSHROOM SALAD

I went to Glatt... (name is much to long for me and the price is a little crazy) with my family. I really enjoyed everything but the Portobella Mushroom salad was just amazing...

Ok so it was basically lettuce, nuts and with mushrooms but the dressing was the best part. I am guessing it had soy sauce, vinegar, some kind of sugar....ahum...

Anyone had this salad and knows of a similar recipe.

It's probably made with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, sugar...
Is it a vinaigrette, or creamy?

it was more like a vinaigrette salad dressing. It definitely had soy sauce.

I would try equal amounts of soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil. Season to taste.

Did it have a sesame-oil scent or flavor?

Here's a really good Asian dressing I often make:
1 Tbsp. sesame oil
1 Tbsp. soy sauce
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
3 Tbsp. vinegar (rice, apple cider or just plain white all work well)
4 Tbsp. canola oil

Would this work without sesame oil, or would that totally change the taste?

It does work without, but you would be missing the nutty, roasty flavor of the sesame oil. The Asian-ness of the dressing would be subtler.

There is a recipe in the what's cooking recipe book page 34 called spring salad with portabella
Mushrooms. Has portabellas spices salad mix cherry tomatoes and honey glazed almonds.
The dressing is oil vinegar sugar ketchup garlic salt and dry mustard. If this is what u r looking
For and want the exact recipe let me know. I'll gladly post it later.

Yes. That portabella mushroom salad is from Quick & Kosher. It is the beest salad, whenever we go to people for meals and I bring this salad they ask for the recipe.
Here it is:

Portabella Mushroom salad- from Quick & Kosher
Yield: 6 to 8 servings

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 (6-ounce) package sliced Portobello mushrooms
1 (10-ounce) package baby spinach leaves
1 red onion, thinly sliced
10 grape tomatoes, halved

For dressing:

⅓ cup olive oil
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon prepared crushed garlic
½ teaspoon sugar
½ teaspoon kosher salt

1. In a 12-inch skillet, heat oil over medium heat.
2. Add mushrooms and sauté for 5 minutes. Set aside.
3. In a salad bowl, place baby spinach, onion and tomatoes.
4. In a small bowl, whisk together all the dressing ingredients until smooth and creamy. Pour over salad.
5. Spoon mushrooms over salad. Toss gently and serve.

Tip:
If you like arugula, add some to the salad.

If you don’t have time to sauté, just use 1 carton of fresh sliced white mushrooms in place of the Portobellos.

Great recipe, my and DH really enjoyed it... just wish I can have the Glatt A La Carte recipe...

ROMMAINE LETTUCE, SAUTEED MUSHROOMS ,SHREDDED CARROTS ,SHALLOTS,AND TOASTED ALMONDS,
IN A FRENCH CATALINA DRESSING

This is the description from the website.. I would find a recipe for french catalina dressing and try that!

Here is a recipe I found with a quick search. I bet they used soy sauce instead of worcestchire sauce, since most wosterchire sauces contain fish.
