I have tiny little fruit flys - where do they come from?
could it be ..... when I opened my bag of oranges?

ugh, those are so annoying. last summer my building was filled with them, because they traveled (or something through the kitchen pipes to each apt.)
THey can come from infested fruit, or sometimes they stay by the drain in the sink.
to get rid of the ones that come from the infested fruit, just get rid of that fruit and make sure everything else is really clean and put away, they should be gone soon after.
To get rid of the ones from the drain do a google search you should see some sort of solution of throwing vinegar, baking soda, and maybe salt/sugar (I can't remember the last thing) down the drain.

they're seasonal.

I had them for a short time...My DH put a certain type of bug bomb out and over the course of 2 hours a smell came out and killed them all...now I make sure there is never any food in the drain and I haven't seen them since!

they breed in the drain - they need water to breed. dump draino (or the natural equivalent  ) down the drain and it really works!
don't leave out fruits & veggies - that gets them coming too!
