I think there are more "yeshivish/frum,etc" girls out there, that's why it looks like there are more girls available. it's easier to be a good girl than a good boy.

The "weaker" gender are actually stronger and for every age after newborn there are more females than males.

Every year there are statistics put out on this. Recently, I have seen statistics that there were about 51% male, and 49% female babies born maybe last year. I guess the shidduch scene makes it seem otherwise, but you could probably look up exact numbers for each year and see that its quite close.

Males are less hardy than females at every stage. They also tend to engage in riskier behavior and find themsleves in more dangerous situations. So those "extra" males drop out of the population by dying sooner, whether it's heart attack, drowning, getting shot, crashing their cars, getting hit in the head by 90-mph fast balls, whatever.
The statistics are for the population as a whole, not for the frum community per se. Presumably few yeshiva bocherim are getting killed by drug lords to whom they owe money, but R"L they still fall, get sick, get shot during mugging attempts, crash cars, and so on.
