okay, so I want to take something on. I don't have tons of money or time, but I do have some of both. I'd love to have ideas from you ladies as to possible things to do... I do live in a city which has a fair amount of gemachs, new mother meals, big Bikur Cholim, etc. already, so keep that in mind when you make suggestions.

Have you looked into "Inner Circle" or "Friendship Circle"?
How about a "Soup Kitchen"?
Or you can try baking/sending challa for ppl at old age homes.

Inner Circle, is helping out families locally, emotionally, supporting with the help they need. ie; babysitters, doing homework with kids, taking baths or extra hand in house. By setting up a system of a bunch of (HS or SEM) gilrs to volunteer to do it.
Friendship circle is already an organization, you can probaby google it. It's helping out families with special needs. You organize activities for the special needs kids and volunteers etc

Clothing gemach where ppl recycle clothes?
Kosher supper pantry?
Orginizing carpools for ppl who need them (kimpetirin ex)?
Ask around what's needed
Perhaps you can volunteer in your local school
Serve lunches?
class mother?
librarian?
make flyers and / newsletters?
teacher apreciation committee?
classroom beautification comittee?
Orginize events for women (jr n'shei)?
visit hospitals or nursing homes?
Drive kids on trips?
Ask the school what they need I'll bet your local school/ preschool would know what's needed
In pgh I could certainly put you to work 
there's lots to do
