That steakhouse is pretty good although the service is slow..Sharis..its about a 10 minute drive from the casino's so get directions before you go...Personally I like the Borgata the best..its the newest and really nice. During the daytime the boardwalk has lots of things open..there are rides, a Ripleys Believe it or not place and beach. They also have buggys where you can get a ride from some poor person shlepping you on a bike! Enjoy!

elkayed,
We lost our "pants" (or should I say skirt?) in the borgata - the machines just ate our money without any return at all to help us extend playtime. The place is new and state of the art, but the machines have almost no payback.
About the poor guy shlepping you - at their rates I wouldn't call them "poor". We thought it would be cheap so we asked the rate to shlep you and the guy wanted $30 or something like that for a 2 minute ride.
In case you were wondering......we walked.

I went to the Borgata a few times because when they opened first they sent us discounts to bring us in, we liked it so went back a few times. I had no idea they don't have the same payout..hmmm..maybe I should go elsewhere next time..
Don't worry, I'm not taking the buggy ride either!

The Borgata is currently the hot place to stay in AC. My mom goes with her girlfriends whenever Bette Midler comes to do a concert , and she raves about the Borgata

We consistantly go to Bally's. The rooms are nice and have great rates
during the week. You can get even better rates at Caesars for about $79/night.
Also if your looking for a casino that is not so packed go to Wild Wild West . It's part of BAlly's, and have a lot of lower limit tables.
If I were you I wouldn't step foot into the Borgata (especially with those "Borgata Babes" all over the place ) they are extremely crowded, I went there twice, lost my pants there twice(maybe that had nothing to do with the casino itself, but I blame it on their automatic card shuffler!)The poker room, which my DH plays, is ridiculously jammed, he waited once 4 hours to get a seat . It's also not on the boardwalk, so I don't know what else you'd be able to do there.
Also, my MIL plays at Caesar's a lot, last time she went she won $800! But then it seems everytime she plays she wins!
As far as the restaurant goes, Shari's, it's nothing special. I found it to be extremely pricy for mediocre food, my dh liked it though. Whatever you do, don't order the chicken soup, it tastes like they put soem instant soup powder in water with some cooked veggies and voila!
Enjoy, I'll be there over 4th of July, maybe I'll see you!

Two things what does seedy mean?
Isn't it against halacha to gamble in casinos?

This is according to AskMoses.com:
Quote: | Gambling with another person is forbidden, for any money that you win is given with a heavy heart. The other person would not have been willing to gamble had he originally known that he would lose, so the money won is not clean money.
According to halacha a consistent gambler is actually unacceptable as a witness in a Jewish court of law.
A casino is different, for the casino is making enough money, and they figure that a certain percentage of the people will walk out with a profit. (In fact, it is to their obvious benefit that some people make money, otherwise no one would come.) |
As far as seedy goes, it means there's a lot of bad characters walking around once you get further away from the boardwalk, like harlots, homelesss people, and the like.
