Is a black velvet jumper that is floor length too robe like. I bought a black velevet floor length jumper with a beautiful belt to wear to a shabbos seva brachos. When I asked someone's opinion they thought it was too robe like. Can you wear such a thing not as a robe?

it's hard to say without a picture. depends on if it's the stiffer velvet, or the veloury-robey-velvet. it depends on a lot of things...

Its more of a robe material. I showed it to another SIL and she deemed it too robe like. Its a shame beacause with the belt - velvet and sequined - it is magnifacent.

If you hemmed it a bit, would it be less robe-like and more elegant?

I actually think the belt makes it look more robe like.

but I really like it and would consider getting one for myself!

thanks. That is what I figured [It is also cheaper if you buy it in the store - I did not pay the prices listed]. Its a pretty robe, and it is easy to nurse in because the shoulders slide off easily.

It's really gorgeous! I would wear a maxi dress around outside on Friday night or Shabbos day if I wanted to be comfortable and casual while in public, but definitely not to a sheva brachos.

For what it's worth, the description says you can dress it up for a night on the town. Did you show the people you asked all your accessories?

its questionable...

I would wear I if I didnt feel like being dressed but still had to be, you kno?

las yr I took a velour robe and took the sleeves off and shortened it to make it a jumper. It's that robe type of velour so I couldnt really wear it to fancy thing...
