I can't really share much, because I feel like it's extremely proprietary information when a store gives you access to their backend data, sales, marketing tactics, worries, etc.
But I'm so impressed at how many incredible frum women are running businesses and building these huge brands! It's very impressive. |
I agree. There are some very cool motivated frum women who build massive businesses from ground up.

It would save so many returns as ppl would get it right the first time if they'd have decent measurements and fabric details. |
In theory I 100% agree with this but in practice it’s very hard because the wholesalers usually don’t give us this information. Whatever info I do have I always put.
I did add size charts to a few frum brands recently who hired me independently. But this was there own lines so they have the info already. BH it helped with the return rate.

I work in this field too. You’re missing all the costs involved, so regardless of markup, the store owners breaking even at 30% makes perfect sense

1000 percent I wasn’t including the massive overhead.

I will say this is the only thread I’ve ever read with so many details. I feel a little uncomfortable with it, I wonder what others think? I’m pretty sure I know and work with your boss:) People like to hate on Jewish fashion even though it’s a business like all others, the people involved are not billionaires ripping people off. They work really hard! Maybe the other businesses that are huge in the Jewish world should start their own spin offs, and share too…I’m thinking the big grocery stores, real estate developers, interior designers, therapists, etc. I’m very curious about their markups

I don’t think you work for him but I think you’re right and deleted some information.
No, it’s definitely a very tough field and overhead costs are enormous.

So I have nothing to do with this line except for being a shopper:) but none of this really seemed like a secret. And I don’t think the markups are crazy, we all know they make more from the Jewish brands - they are usually cheaper items so it’s not like they are making crazy amounts and they definitely have a high overhead!
These are all things I knew and I have zero bad feelings towards Jewish stores. Most ppl I know complain about things like the season coming out too early or short return windows that are true across the board basically.
If anybody works in the back end of Buttons Bebe (one of the best!) why do they have old pics on their opening page?

Imo this thread does the opposite of what you think. I actually thought kids clothing stores break even when they are 70% off. But she's saying they are actually losing money when I shop sales above 50%.

Lil legs pull on shorts start at 2 I believe. Those are a great for Shabbos.
Just reread. I misunderstood your question.
Definitely brands that have 3.
